Green Buildings for Cool Cities Workshop Materials
The "Green Buildings for Cool Cities" (GBCC) campaign is a joint effort between the Sierra Club Loma Prieta Chapter and
the US Green Building Council-Northern California Chapter (USGBC-NCC). Our campaign focuses on working for home energy efficiency
upgrades of existing homes in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties. The climate action campaign volunteers from Sierra Club
and USGBC are educating the public about the benefits of doing home performance upgrades and about the new California Energy
Commission "Energy Upgrade" program being rolled out in the Bay Area.
Our effort seeks to rapidly scale-up the number of
home performance upgrades in these counties to address the second largest source of greenhouse gas emissions-- buildings.
Home energy performance upgrades can quicklyreduce regional greenhouse gas emissions, save homeowners money, and create new jobs.
The GBCC campaign was formally launched at a workshop held on October 9, 2010 in Menlo Park, California. Presentations, associated documents, and other
resources from this workshop are included below.
